What does it mean to be the greatest of all time in sports? Is it the one with the most championships? In basketball, is it the one with the most points? Does the man with the most home runs get crowned the greatest baseball player ever? For skateboarding, there should only be one man who comes to mind, Bob Burnquist. Bob Burnquist is a vert skater born in the beautiful country of Brazil and started skateboarding at the age of 16. For most sports, starting at age 16 would make it nearly impossible to go pro, but Bob would do way more than just go pro. Burnquist would dominate competitions, rank up medals, and continue to revolutionize competitive skateboarding.

He is an innovator in a sport filled with athletes all over the world skating every day. In the 2001, Burnquist produced the second highest score in X Games history with a 98. This run was so flawless, he had announcer Tony Hawk flabbergasted, unable to come up with words during and after his run. Burnquist created tricks that no one has ever seen before. Due to Burnquist switch stance, he can do tricks that other skateboarders cannot do. He is the first skateboarder to land a ”fakie 900” in competition, and only the fifth person in history to do a 900 in general. Throughout his X Games career, Bob has dominated year after year. He has appeared in every X Games ever, which shows how great he really is. Skateboarding is a dangerous game, and him being at every X Games shows that he can land his tricks, and lands them smoothly. Burnquist is the first athlete ever at an X Games to win the same event 4 years in row. From 2011 through the 2014 competitions, he has won gold in Big Air. Big Air allows Bob to shows off his creativity and his innovative style. And if that is not enough, Burnquist also holds the most X Games medals ever with 27. Consistency and innovation makes Bob Burnquist the GOAT.

Burnquist is also willing to put his life on the line to give his fans something they’ve never seen before. Now when people think of the Grand Canyon, they think of the beautiful Canyon that is a Wonder of the World, not Bob. Bob put a rail and grinded into the canyon. Not only did he do a grind over a 4,000 foot canyon, but he then jumped off the rain and parachuted to the bottom. Is there anything Bob Burnquist cannot do? Actually, no. Bob is such a versatile athlete; being in TV shows, video games, commercials, and movies. He has appeared in the hit TV show “Bill Nye, the Science Guy”, talking about the effects of gravity. He did a voice over for the TV show Kim Possible as himself. Burnquist was also appeared in the movie Grind, and appeared in Stan Lee’s SuperHumans. Bob Burnquist was also a featured skater in the Tony Hawk video games.

His accomplishments speak for themselves. Someone who is such a decorated athlete and an innovator in their own sport must be the greatest of all time. Want Bob Burnquist to represent your brand? Check out www.opensponsorship.com for more sponsorship opportunities.
