Another closer in my top-5? I know, what am I thinking. But for a last-place Philadelphia Phillies team, Papelbon has been that good. Boasting a miniscule 1.88 ERA with 13 saves, who knows how much worse this Phillies team would be without Papelbon.
3. Josh Reddick OF Oakland Athletics
While he may be somewhat of a defensive liability, Reddick is the heart and soul of the Oakland Athletics meager lineup. Not only is he hitting over .285, but he also has 42 runs batted in to go along with his 10 homers.
2. Jeurys Familia RP New York Mets
Some call him the New York Mets MVP (Gary Cohen). With an ERA of 1.38 and 19 saves, it would be difficult to argue otherwise.
1. Dustin Pedroia 2B Red Sox
The former MVP is having somewhat of a resurgent season, as he boasts a slash line of .307/.367/.403. Don’t look now, but he could be capturing his fifth career All-Star appearance this season.
